Fridley History Center

The Fridley History Center, founded by the Fridley Historical Society, is the only community-based historical museum in Anoka County. Located in a 75-year old 2-room schoolhouse, it features many exhibits of Fridley history and numerous artifacts and historical photos on two floors. It is open to the public the second and fourth Saturday of every month.

The Fridley Historical Society presents 13 events every year for the enjoyment of the public. These include 7 History Conversations that are telecast on Fridley Municipal Television Channel 17, Annual Lasagna/Spaghetti Dinner/Raffle/Live Auction, AugustFest, Annual Meeting, Fridley Hall of Fame Dinner, Kindergarten Holiday Art Fair, and an Annual Christmas Concert.

Our Vision for 2008

The Board of Directors in late 2007 developed an exciting vision for 2008:

Publish the first hard-cover history book of Fridley since 1953. Already, 118 family histories have been collected.

Lay the foundation for transforming the Fridley History Center into a virtual musuem.

Extend the reach of the Historical Society programs and events to more Fridley citizens

Produce Video Histories of Fridley Families, Businesses and Organizations

Create Interactive Programs with Fridley school children to engage them in understanding the history of their city

50th Anniversary of Fridley High School

The Fridley Historical Society will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Fridley High School on Monday, May 19, 2008 at 7 PM at the Fridley History Center, 611 Mississippi Street, Fridley, MN.

The event will feature a History Conversation with attendees sharing their stories and memories of Fridley High School over that past 50 years. Our honored guests are the first graduating class (1959), their teachers and other support staff at the high school.

Parking is available on the west side of the History Center or in the Hayes School parking lot to the east. All members of the Fridley Historical Society and all who have attended Fridley High School or were a faculty member have free admission. For others, the fee is $5.

Fridley History Conversations are videotaped for viewing on Fridley Cable Channel 15 at some future date. The videotapes become part of the permanent archives of the Fridley History Center.
